Sunday 4th October

October 4, 2015

On Friday we headed to Ascot with the two runners. We started the afternoon off with GEORGE CINQ who was held up at the rear of the field. He made some progress over two furlongs out, but had a lot to do to get near the leaders. He did well from the position he was in to finish fourth and is just so consistent. Maybe if he had been kept a bit closer early on he would have finished closer to the first three. Later on the card THEM AND US had been stepped back up to seven furlongs. He was dropped right out early on and was set alight over a furlong out. He finished with a real flourish, but the post was always going to beat him.

Today we have seen CHELABELLA take her chance at Newmarket. She was slightly chucked in the deep end and if the race had been two weeks later I am sure that she would have been more competitive. She has been improving all the time in her work at home and just looked very green here. She is sure to come on for the run and is a filly that is bred to keep progressing.

On Monday we head to Pontefract where we are hoping ROCK OF MAX can finally get a bracket by his name. Hopefully we have found a race that he can be competitive in. At Windsor ACADEMY HOUSE takes his chance and it would be great to see him build on his third at Newmarket. It would be great to get another win by his name before the Horses in Training Sales.

On Tuesday we head to Catterick where we have declared the two runners. MODEST is looking to get her first career win on the board and it would certainly enhance her value at the sales later in the month. STRAIT OF MAGELLAN has been so consistent this year and has been second six times. If a horse certainly deserves to win again then I am sure he is it. At Leicester we have declared BONHOMIE who will be making her racecourse debut. She has really progressed since her arrival and although she will probably need the race she looks to have the making of a nice filly next year. We round off the day with MALVIA who has been recently gelded. He should be suited by the extra furlong and if he recreates his Newcastle run should go very close.
